Brian Walsh
President & CEO
Brian Walsh has more than 20 years of experience in the medical industry. Throughout his career, he has worked with high-growth companies offering significant advancements to physicians and patients. Prior to joining Transcend, Mr. Walsh held the position of VP of Sales and Marketing at Xtent, a publicly-traded company developing next-generation drug-eluting stent systems. Previously, Mr. Walsh served as VP of Sales and Marketing of Ventrica (acquired by Medtronic), and Director of Sales for Artemis Medical (acquired by Johnson & Johnson). Mr. Walsh served as a sales, marketing and research and development consultant for the Cardiovations Division of Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson company that develops cardiovascular surgical products, and with Heartport, where he held the position of Director of Sales, Northeast US, prior to its acquisition by Johnson & Johnson. Previously, Mr. Walsh held a variety of sales and sales training positions at Guidant, Devices for Vascular Intervention and Marion Merrell Dow. Mr. Walsh holds a BS in Marketing from St. Joseph's University.
Sean Ianchulev, MD MPH
Chief Medical Officer
Sean Ianchulev is a Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Transcend Medical. Dr. Ianchulev is a Harvard trained physician-ophthalmologist with a background in public health and clinical research. He has been on the cutting edge of innovation in ophthalmology, making an impact in the treatment of major eye diseases. While at Genentech, Dr. Ianchulev headed the ophthalmology clinical development and medical affairs groups and was instrumental to the launch of Lucentis – a $3 billion biologic franchise which transformed the standard of care for retinal diseases such as wet AMD, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vein occlusions. As an inventor, he also spearheaded the development of a new technology for refractive cataract surgery through intraoperative laser-guided implantation, currently marketed by Wavetec, Inc. Dr. Ianchulev is a Clinical Associate Professor on the faculty of UCSF and is well-published in the field of ophthalmology.
Ginger Clasby, MS
Vice President, Clinical & Regulatory Affairs
Ginger Clasby has worked in the field of regulated medical products for more than 25 years. Prior to Transcend, she served as VP of Clinical & Regulatory Affairs and Executive VP of Business Development for Promedica International, a specialty contract research organization. At Promedica, Ms. Clasby built the company’s clinical regulatory division from the ground up, establishing the organization as a respected, major provider of clinical research services within the ophthalmic and medical device markets. Prior to joining Promedica, she worked for Optical Radiation Corporation’s ophthalmic surgical products division where she served as VP of Sales and Marketing, responsible for worldwide marketing and domestic sales. She also held a variety of technical and successive management roles while at American Medical Optics. Ms. Clasby holds an MS in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University and BS degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Guilford College. She is a member of the Orange County, CA Regulatory Affairs Discussion Group Board of Directors, the University of California-Irvine Extension Life Science Advisory Committee, and the California State University Program for Education & Research in Biotechnology Advisory Board.
Bart Beasley, MBA
Senior Director, Marketing
Bart Beasley has 18 years of sales and marketing experience in roles of increasing responsibility in the medical device business, primarily
focused on high-intensity early stage ventures. Immediately prior to joining Transcend, Mr. Beasley held various market development consulting
positions in start-up companies in the fields of interventional cardiology, vascular surgery, and orthopedics.
Mr. Beasley previously served as Director of Marketing for FoxHollow Technologies (acquired by EV3) and helped to drive the explosive growth of both the company and of peripheral atherectomy. Prior to his role as director, Mr. Beasley gained extensive field sales experience with FoxHollow in both Europe and the U.S. Before Fox Hollow, Mr. Beasley spent 7 years with Perclose, Inc. (acquired by Abbott Vascular) in a variety both Marketing and Finance roles. Mr. Beasley holds a BS in Economics from Santa Clara University and
an MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.
Luke Clauson
Sr. Director of Research and Development and Operations
Luke Clauson leads all product development efforts at Transcend Medical. Additionally, Mr. Clauson is the founder of Innovative Drive, an engineering consulting business that focuses on the needs of local start-up companies. The business grew from its rigorous technical analysis roots to eventually a full service engineering design and development firm helping local companies move from ideation to market. Mr. Clauson was previously Director of Engineering at Cardica, a publicly traded medical device company, directing all core business engineering and training activities. Prior to this role, he spent several years at Cardica in a variety of engineering, operations, and management roles. Luke received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis.
Matt Chroust
Senior Director, Quality
Matt Chroust has two decades of experience as a Quality and Regulatory professional supporting medical device companies such as Nellcor Puritan Bennett (Ventilators & Pulse Oximetry), Boston Scientific (Cardiac Imaging) and Cardica (Cardiac and Surgical Staplers). Mr. Chroust maintains a focus on continuous improvement and productivity driven through cross-functional collaboration, benchmarking and mentoring. Mr. Chroust received a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, with an emphasis in bioelectronics, from the University of California, Berkeley, and has been an active member of IEEE and the American Society for Quality.
